Saturday Market (農家のかあさん土曜市)| Farmers Market | Ebetsu

I really recommend this farmers market held in Ebetu, 20 minutes away from Sapporo! The venue has several booths selling a lot of local products made of vegetables, milk, and meat produced in this city!

This is the event venue, "Ebetsu River Disaster Prevention Station (江別河川防災ステーション)"↓

This event is held once a month during the winter time, when farmers make and sell delicious processed food such as jam, ketchup, and cakes with their own agricultural products!

Look at the city mascot named "Ebechu"! So cute♪
But when we look at it from the back........

We've found his secret! Hahaha!

Let's go upstairs and observe a HUGE ship object!

"Kamikawa maru" was used in the 19th and 20th century, when Ishikari River was the only channel to bring goods from the ocean to inner Hokkaido.

Actually one of the reasons to come here was to enjoy a special lunch set made of local products cooked by their producers! Sounds very delicious and healthy!

And guess what?
The set is only 500 yen! Unbelievable!!

Here comes the lunch set!

I really love this hayashi rice or hashed beef with rice. This tomato source tastes very rich and delicious!
Tomato, tomato source, ketchup, vegetables, and cheese are local products.

The pickles are of course home-made↓ We usually eat Fukujin-zuke, a kind of pickles, with curry and rice, but this Fukujin-zuke tastes really different! Tastes very vegetables!!!

This locally-grown potato is very dense, steaming, and appetizing♪

We also love this potato salad made of okara, or tofu-refuse, which is high in protein & dietary fibers, and low in calorie! Great for our body, isn't it?
Of course, every ingredient in this salad is from this city!

Last but not least, we enjoyed this tomato jelly made of local grape tomatoes! Yummy x 2!

Would you like to cook all the dishes?
The recipes are distributed at the cafeteria and we can buy all the ingredients on the 1st floor!

After having the lunch, we came downstairs and enjoyed shopping!

Look at the whey milk pork sausage! Tastes very wonderful!!!

The tube cakes are made of Hokkaido local flour!

Look at the price tag!
The melon jellies are usually 1,050 yen, but today only 500 yen! Wow! Wow! Wow!

The list price of this pork motsu (guts) is 500 yen but today 500 yen in the three bags!!

One bag of five pieces of yakitori, (grilled chicken or pork) is only 100 yen!

5 kg of potatoes are only 200 yen!!!

We were so surprised at the prices!!!

The venue has something unique, too. This booth sold some unusual kinds of juice, and.....

We bought yacon juice! The vegetable is rich in oligosaccaride, polyphenol, and dietary fibers, which we believe has anti-aging effects and tastes very delicious!

We also bought snack buns such as egg and sausage buns!

We really enjoyed the farmers market today!
I love the local commodities made by the producers, using their own agricultural products!
